The undergraduate minor in Psychology is designed to give students the flexibility to explore the breadth of areas covered by Psychology or to focus in a more specific area within the field.
The only required course for the minor is PSY 1300: Introduction to Psychology. An additional 15 hours of Psychology (5 courses) are required for a total of 18 hours. The only restriction placed on these additional hours is that at least 12 hours must be at the 3000 or 4000 level.
Student are encouraged to construct a minor that either explores the breadth of areas in Psychology (e.g. Developmental, Abnormal, Social, Sensation & Perception, and Health Psychology) or to focus more in depth in a given area (e.g., Developmental, Adolescent, Adulthood & Aging, and 2 additional courses).
In addition to the general Minor in Psycology, the department also offers a Minor in Forensic Psychology in conjuction with the department of Criminal Justice and a Minor in Sports Psychology in cunjunction with the department of Health, Physical Education and Recreation.
