| Psychology Association |
| Mission | The Psychology Association at Texas State University is an undergraduate interest group for
anyone who is curious about psychology. Our mission is to inform individuals about careers and graduate
study in the field of psychology, to provide opportunities for our members to strengthen their
resumes with research and volunteer activities, and to establish a casual atmosphere that will
foster friendships and support among our members. |
| Events | Speaker Series. The speaker series features faculty from the Psychology Department
and other departments on campus, as well as guest speakers from the community in psychology or
related professions. Topics range from careers and graduate school in the field of psychology
to research and internship opportunities available at Texas State. These presentations are open
to anyone interested in the topics; membership in the Association is not required for attending
these talks. Volunteer Outings. The volunteer outings involve hosting parties for the children at the Greater San Marcos Youth Council and for the residents at Austin State Hospital. In addition, the Association helps with RiverFest Clean-Up at Sewell Park and Bobcat Build in the community. To participate in these outings, you must be a member of the Association. Social Activities. The social activities include parties at the beginning and at the end of the semester, student-faculty mixers, movie nights, and holiday gatherings for our members. |
| Membership | Becoming a Member. To become a member of the Association, you simply need to pay
a $5.00 membership fee per semester. This fee, which will help fund volunteer outings and social
activities, may be paid to the Treasurer during one of the Association’s meetings, which are
generally held on Tuesdays at 5:00pm. Details are included in the flyers posted in the psychology
building. Benefits of Membership. As a member of the Association, you will receive a $5.00 discount on the Association t-shirts; you may participate in all volunteer outings that offer opportunities for you to make a difference in your community and gain valuable experience that you may add to your resume, and you may attend all of the social activities that offer free food, fun, and games. |
